Terrible Experience with Fred’s Autobody and Painting in Sechelt, BC I had a horrible experience at Fred’s Autobody and Painting, and I feel compelled to warn others. The owner, Fred, was extremely rude and dismissive. He didn’t bother to ask a single question about the damage beyond the exterior, completely ignoring any other concerns I had. He just took a few pictures and left without even listening to me. When I called later to ask about the timeline for repairs, I was accused of trying to scam them and cut in line! I was shocked and appalled by this accusation—it was completely uncalled for and totally unprofessional. The only positive part of this nightmare was getting a courtesy car. But even that turned sour. When I returned the car, I handed in the keys and didn’t do a walk-around, nor did I sign any paperwork stating there was damage. Two days later, they called and claimed I damaged the wheels and demanded I pay for it! I asked for insurance details, like the plate number, and was told I had to pay out of pocket. Why would I ever take a courtesy car without insurance? This place is a total scam and should be reported for their shady business practices. Avoid at all costs!
It's hard to rate a place that does really good work but appears to be overwhelmed with it. It took 5 months from start to finish to complete a repair on my car. Everybody there is pleasant the work was really very good but if you need something done in a hurry it's probably not for you.
My passenger door is broken and I went in to see if someone would look into replacing the broken parts. Imagine my surprise to get surly, unhelpful "service" and to be told that no-one would look at it because they "don't do locks". Unfortunately, Iris was out at the time - she would never treat me like that! Very disappointing.
